Sand Boxes

My sister in law saw something like these on Pinterest and asked my Dad if he could make them for her two boys. Not only did he make them for my nephews but he made one for my son, William as well. Talk about amazing!

They close and lock so neighborhood cats do not get any ideas :)

Cooking the turkey in the Orion

I must say, this has been one of the best gifts my husband and I have received. Its an out door power smoker cooker, OK that's probably not the technical description but I am sticking with it. We have made all sorts of goodies in it.

This year, and last we cooked the Thanksgiving turkey in it. The day before I brined the turkey using the Neeley's brining recipe The next morning I removed the turkey from the brine, patted it dry and seasoned it with Pampered Chef's BBQ Rub, you can purchase it and any other Pampered Chef products from this site I rubbed down the bird and set it aside.

Next you need to get a bag of wood chips and soak them for at least an hour, set this aside well you assemble the Orion.

I stuff the bird with oranges and orange peels to give an extra citrus flavor.

In the pan I put some apple juice and orange peels which will help keep the turkey moist and add flavor. Around the drip pan you add your wood chips which have soaked for over an hour.

Next you use the stand which comes with the Orion and put it inside of the turkey, you stand your turkey upright in the cooker. As you can see I used a piece of foil to hold the wings down so the turkey was not touching the sides of the Orion.

After your bird is inside you place the lid on, light the charcoal and forget about it. The instructions say 7 minutes a pound and that's pretty accurate as long as your cooker stays HOT. It was pretty cold her in Salt Lake so I had to add a little more lighter fuel to my charcoal to keep things going.

My little guys watched me to make sure I did everything right. He is such an awesome helper!

I moved William away and light the Orion

About 3 hours later and here is the end result, YUM! YUM!

Noodle Proofing your home for baby

Recently my son, William has decided he wants to be in an 80's head banging band and that his crib is a delicious treat. He kept pulling himself up on the baby gates and banging his head into the top and hurting himself.

I looked online for solution and couldn't find anything. So I thought why not "Noodle" my house!

I went to Target and since its the end of the Summer season all of the summer pool supplies and toys are like 90% off. I got a few pool noodles for under a buck each.

Supplies:
Tape Measure
Noodle
Sharp Scissors

Step's:
1. Measure how long you would like the noodle to be.
2. Cut the noodle to that size.
3. Slit the noodle down the middle.
4. Place noodle over top and TA-DA!

William's Surgey

The thought of a your child having surgery is not something many have to face or should have to face.

The days leading up to the surgery I was on pins and needles. I did not want to put Will down for anything, I even slept on the couch with him just to be close to him. I kept thinking about all the what if's and I swear I read every single article on the internet about Hypospadias and picked my husbands brain every day and night about it. I wanted a guarantee that everything would be ok and my little boy would be fine. I hated the thought of him being put under and me not being able to control the situation. I prayed for my son William, the doctors performing the surgery, and selfishly for myself to have the strength to keep myself together.

The day of the surgery at 545am we headed to the hospital, I had my Mom and my husband by my side. We checked in at the front desk and waiting in the waiting room until they called us back. In the waiting room were quite a few other children waiting to have surgery as well, the look on all of the parents faces were the same, worried. A lady called Williams name and took us into a room and gave me some baby scrubs to put on Will and gave him a whole bunch of fancy wrist bands.

The nurse explained the surgery and how the day would go, she took Will's stats and pointed us in the direction of where to head next. We sat in another room and waited for the Doctor's to greet us and prep us for the surgery. William fell asleep in Grandma's arms, he was so tired!

The Anesthesiologist was first and was very friendly. He told us exactly what he would be doing and how long William would be under and what type of medication he would be giving William, he made me feel very comfortable. Then came the Urologist, Dr. Snow, I have to say I really like him, there was something about his personality and demeanor that made you trust him with your baby. Something I feel all doctors should have especially doctors who treat children. Shortly after we met with the doctors they called William's name again and we followed the anesthesiologist back to an area with a large piece of yellow tape on the ground. The tape marked the spot where I had to hand over my boy.

While Will was in surgery my Mom, husband and I walked around the hospital. Got some breakfast, and a cup of coffee. We headed back to another room where parents wait for their child to come out of surgery and then are allowed to come see them. When Will's name was called I jumped out of my chair and the nurse asked me "Would you like to come and see him?" Ummm yes! Of course! I went back into the recovery area and my little man was asleep on his tummy. He had all sorts of wires and monitors connected to him. The nurse told me his surgery went well and they were about to move him to another room and wait for him to wake up. When he did wake up he was really unhappy, the medication made him confused and miserable. We did everything to comfort him but nothing worked so they had to give him another dose of pain meds which made him fall back asleep and keep us there another hour. I could at least hold my little guy while he slept.

When he finally woke up he was in a pretty good mood, he wanted his Daddy to hold him and he was all smiles.

Baby's 1st 4th

We had a wonderful 4th of July weekend, Saturday we had a night out at a friends house, Sunday we went to a cook out at another friends house, Monday we went to our neighborhood pancake breakfast and water fight and then Will and I went to the Sugarhouse art street festival. I have to be honest the street festival was very underwhelming. I do not think we will be going next year.

Biter Biscuts and teething

My 7 month old is teething, his first two bottom came in in the past couple of weeks and I think his top teeth are coming in too because he is chewing on everything.

We tried the frozen rings, keys and other random toys Wal-mart and Target had to offer. Will is tired of them.

I bought two different kinds to test out and personally I prefer the Earth's Best Organic biscuits because they are harder to bite off than the Beech Nut Goodies brand. My little guy just gums on them but I was afraid he might bite a piece off and choke. The Earth's Best also in my opinion taste a little better, they have a subtle hint of honey. After letting him gum it, sitting up for 30 minutes while I watched him he was able to break off a chunk large enough to choke on.

**CHOCKING HAZARD - I would not recommend leaving your baby unattended with these**

Who needs baby toys when you have tupperware?

I mean seriously why in the world do we as parents waste money on every toy on the shelf? If you have plastic containers or tupperware, you're set!

My son and two of his best friend's, Patrick, and Henry

Not only does it taste yummy

You can wear it on your head too!
